Sandy's Story

Mike's Story

In September of 2020, Mike* had an accident resulting in a serious cut to his hand.  During open enrollment, Mike had confirmed that his local hospital was in-network with his insurance.  As such, he proceeded to the local ER to receive treatment.  Part of his treatment included surgery to repair the damage to his hand.  Later when Mike received his bills and the explanation of benefits from his insurance, he realized that his insurance processed some of the services as in-network and some of them as out-of-network.  As a result, he received over $12,000 in medical bills with the hospital and the surgical center.  Much more than he had expected to pay.

Mike worked diligently for four months to try to get the billing straightened out before seeking the services of Nicole.  He was frustrated and unable to get anyone at the hospital or the insurance company to help him.  Mike was willing to pay what he owed for the services he received, but he wasn't willing to pay more than he believed he was responsible to pay.

Mike decided to get professional assistance from Nicole.  Nicole was able to work with the hospital, the surgical center, and the insurance company to get his claims re-processed and paid according to the benefits of Mike's policy.  Once this was complete, Mike was left with a zero balance with both the hospital and the surgical center.
